New Art Love

I've pretty much fallen in love with these prints from artist Yelena Bryksenkova. They are very nostalgic yet refreshing to me at the same time. Perhaps it's the style that reminds of me of picture books I used to read as a kid (Lars the Crocodile, anyone?) while they're also very reminiscent of the life I live right now-- a somewhat introverted young girl who likes to sit in the kitchen to read a book, or stare out at the rooftops of the city, or ride a broom stick naked (don't worry about it).

Anyway, when I saw her Etsy shop I knew I had to have at least a couple of her prints hanging in my first apartment next year. Now to choose which ones...

Cheers!

Fashion Illustrated

I fell in love with this editorial after first seeing it in the January/February Issue of FOAM magazine. The punchy styling and cool prints look awesome on the stark white background, but it was the cool illustrations by model Langley Fox Hemingway that really caught my eye. My favorite is probably the little kitty. Meow.

I would love to be able to draw and work with mixed media like the talented Ms. Hemingway, but alas, my drawing abilities only go as far as stick figures. Whatever.

Cheers,

Sam
